I Know You Say Wishes Don't Come True

Contributed by waos on Friday, 16th April 2004 @ 02:57:49 AM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

I wish my arms could hug you until it all disappeared
and until you could smile again.
I wish someone's safe warmth would be able
to chase away your shaking and feel like the home you've never felt before.

And I know you say that wishes don't come true.
And that there is no hope in anything we do.
But I'm here despite all odds,
just to tell you,
I love you.

And I wish that God seemed more real in your life.
And that you had met Jesus face to face.
I wish that words could make everything all okay.
And I wish we could travel through time and through space.
I wish we could reverse the pain you've felt.
And release you and make you happy and set you free.
I wish that you could enter me, look through my eyes,
look through and see you as I see.

And I know you say that wishes don't come true.
And that there is no hope in anything we do.
But I'm here despite all odds,
just to tell you,
I love you.

I wish I could hold you until everything faded away
and protect you from the tidal waves of pain.
I wish I could convince you that I am here to stay
and I won't be one of the ones to leave again.
I wish you could know that I am here; for good;
and that this love I feel is unconditionally for you.
I wish you could comprehend how much greater is God's love
compared to all this imperfect human has for you.

And I know you say that wishes don't come true.
And that there is no hope in anything we do.
But I'm here despite all odds,
just to tell you,
I love you.

And here I am to promise you that I won't just sit and wish.
I'm here for you; no matter what; you can't push me away.
And there you are promising me that you won't just sit and wish.
You're here for me; no matter what; I can't push you away.
I know that together and with God's help we can make it!
We can beat this awful monster that overwhelms our worlds.
Let's please just stick together, hold each other up,
and I promise I won't let go, and I love you,
even if there are no words.

And I know you say that wishes don't come true.
And that there is no hope in anything we do.
But I'm here despite all odds,
just to tell you,
I love you.

I know you say that wishes don't come true,
but here today for me they do.
For I wished for a friend,
who understood,
and the Lord gave me you.

Beautiful poem. It is good that in dark times true friends still exist.
Peace to you and her!
