A Walk Through Yesterday

Contributed by strange_lindsey on Friday, 16th April 2004 @ 01:50:02 AM in AEST
Topic: Grief

The empty swing, the quiesent air
With every memory, more despair
She blinks the sunlight from her eyes
These moments end without surprise.

Envision now what lies ahead
Past familiar houses blue and red
She smiles when she remembers the trees
Laughs then cries; at the cemetary, on her knees.

It's been years, she never looked back
Eyelids draw closed, phantoms attack
Retina's exhausted from every belated apology
Flashes at the noise of his eulogy.

Once she saw his soul take flight
She dreamt, she too, soared free that night
Hand in hand, love filled her heart
A dream of death and then depart.

This is so graceful, so beautiful...this is the best i've seen from you, and shoots into the upper echelon of YPDC elite. It is THAT good. You should be proud; the rhyme is perfect, the flow is mellifluous, and the images sublime. A true work of art, this left me in awe.

Truly,
-Dan

Beautiful memory, when one close dies, part of our heart dies too. It in memories of them, we can live again. Your poems always make me stop and think. Thank you for sharing.
