We hide behind anger and hate
Because we are more afraid of love
We hide behind our lies, our masks
Because we're more afraid of our reality
Don’t dwell on the past but remember to learn from it
Move into the present day
Don’t obsess about the future but look forward to it
Live for this moment
Don’t sacrifice your happiness
To meet the expectations of society
But keep your pain
To bring meaning to your joy
get away from me before I drag you down
down to my hellish reality
this place where I sit and remember
those who loved me, those I lost
I sit and hate the memory,
It brings meaning to my pain
In my head I'm walking
My legs are tired and I'm walking
i'm walking through a thunderstorm
I'm trapped again in endless rain
I'm walking over burning ground
I'm trapped again, in endless pain
I separate your love from my resentment,
I separate your innocence from the evil inside me
I separate your confidence from my self hatred
I separate your harmony from the conflict in my mind,
I separate your faith from the nothingness,
I leave you all behind and focus on my lonliness
I'll leave it all behind and hope I end soon,
take it all away from me; the love, the pain, the life
Take it, take it where I cannot reach it
No longer will I infest you with broken dreams
And shattered hope
No longer will I bring you down
I'll always be somewhere, rotting alone,
regretting my past, dreading my future
Hating the moment.
I used to need you, I fed off you
Now I need you to do one thing
Forget me, leave me, abandon me
Don’t listen to me cry, I know I will
Don't listen to me call you back, its instinct
No one wants to be alone
I don’t want to be alone
But I know, for you I must
I don't want to hurt you any more
I don't want to be the thing that fed
Off your success and love
Because I had none of my own
So go

This could be two seperate poems- I loved the first stanza:
i dont want to be selfish any more
We hide behind anger and hate
Because we are more afraid of love
We hide behind our lies, our masks
Because we're more afraid of our reality
Don’t dwell on the past but remember to learn from it
Move into the present day
Don’t obsess about the future but look forward to it
Live for this moment
Don’t sacrifice your happiness
To meet the expectations of society
But keep your pain
To bring meaning to your joy
the second stanza pours out anger and self hate. Very strong and bitter. Nicely written! |
