She flies too high

Contributed by Insomnia_InfiniteSadness on Thursday, 15th April 2004 @ 07:29:07 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

You walk away from me pursuing that which makes you happy
And it hurts me, denying me that which makes me happy
But I will not stand in your way, and deny you your happiness
I cannot hurt you, my respect is too great
Thus I live carrying an unseen pain

You fly as a butterfly in the world, in all its beauty
You fly higher and higher, flying out of my reach
And it scares me and pains me
I sit and watch, ready to catch you if you fall
To protect you from danger and sadness

I love to see you happy, but would love you to be happy with me
But I have not the strength to fly as high as you

I loved reading this,
"You walk away from me pursuing that which makes you happy
And it hurts me, denying me that which makes me happy
But I will not stand in your way, and deny you your happiness"
those were the most intriguing lines to me in this poem. You care enough about this person to let them have what they want instead of what they want. Overall this was a sad but intriguing write. Well done.

this is sad but beautifully written...you must really love this person...sometimes the hardest thing to do is allow someone to follow their dreams especially when they don't include you but your poem shows that you are willing to do that for the sake of this person's happiness. i hope you follow your dreams and find what makes you happy and i hope this person appreciates how caring and selfless you are. lovely write.

A beautifully sad poem. This poem drew at some emotions I keep hidden deep. When is the noble tragedy not beautiful.
