The Day the Sun Lit the Clouds On Fire and the Sky Rained Flames
(It Was Your Last Breaths Spent Breathing In an Inferno and Bleeding Out Poetry)
still, in this sickened acquired fate.
in the warmth of her arms, and the poison of her taste.
she lays in the snow.. broken, but holding to herself to keep the pieces in place.
if one dream were to fall upon her, it would all fall apart.
as my hands touched her cheek with the intent to help her onto her feet.
she crumbled in my palm like chalk to steel.
i laid there holding her as dust, close and calm waiting for the sun to retreat from battle.
and leave the clouds to tend to their wounds to fight another tomorrow.
when faith stretched it's cold broken wings over the sky.
for night to collapse down upon me, while holding what was now dirt.
and ready to cry out as loud as my lungs could carry a such a noise.
to how I would end every night and day with the same tragic choice.
to breathe without lungs.
don't mark your ways unbarred my child, it will all be over soon.
just keep quiet and calm in your cradle of a grave.
the blanket will be your warmth in times of need.
and i will be your time bomb in times of stress.
each second will tick with each inhale my lungs admit...
and smoke surrounds our veins and corrupts them into nothing but vile string.
to be pulled and tugged at until the beast inside would be captured.
the beast of a heart.
and it beseached all of us.
we believed the heart beats could cure us.
but it only made things worse, when we felt others beating against our chests.
and our blood began to boil.
when their faces met the ground.
to be buried.
when she turned to dust.
i saw what happened to the prideful and stubborn.
they were freed with nothing but a shirt on their backs.
and a knife pinned into their spines to make sure that shirt stayed on.
i won't forget the way her eyes fell towards the ground.
to notice the grave.
she left a poem inside my chest.
now it's time she dug up my body and read it.
and lived it.
take the limbs,
set them at your doorstep to greet guests.
steal the head,
mount it in your library to categorize your life.
confiscate the heart,
place it in your bed, let it pump blood into the sheets to keep you warm in winter.
rip the corpse of it's lungs,
put them in your pockets, to keep them breathing in cash.
leave my soul, let me drift in the dirt with the worms.
and let me become myself and not just part of the dirt.
let me breathe inside your hollow lungs.
and exhale your disease.
as it sweeps over your lips.
and back onto mine.
to recycle the death system, folding and folding.
like our arms... around eachother's necks.
when she turned to dust.
i saw what happened to the prideful and stubborn.
they were freed with nothing but a shirt on their backs.
and a knife pinned into their spines to make sure that shirt stayed on.
sound the alarms, lock the gates.
when the sun passed the guard towers into the clouds.
and the stars that day came to show themselves in daylight.
to watch the epic war of fire against precipitation.
the spectators, they shined and they blinked.
when the sun stabbed it's rays into the cloud's torsos.
and the rays struck the ground where I lay with her ashes tight against my chest.
i squeezed her dusty exposure as tight as fists before the fight and teeth before the confession.
i opened my eyes to glorious light and bright blue.
and slowly closed them back, wishing upon these stars known as the skies' guest to this fire blaze pageant.
when stars screamed in the daylight and showed their pride.
i held tight, her in my arms.
and wished for my death to come as quick as my life had come.
but so much quicker for her.
when we were impaled together..
i was happy.

wow. something deep and meaningful for a change. and original on top of that. don't see much of that anymore. vivid and painted on so real i could almost touch it. i'm at a loss for a final word to stab at this so i'll just say "bumper".

I think you miscategorized this one. It should be dropped into the 'sarcastic poetry' bin, what-not?
Anyway - intrigued, this has imagery that is fiery, yet damp, sunlit, yet dim. A mishmash of good and bad, with some excellent detail in paradox with its viciousness. A rather good write, which is badly prejudiced by your immature assertion.
Try reading more poems in here and you'll change that opinion eventually. |
