Afraid Of Death

Sorrow floods this heart,
as death's stench lurks near the doors
heartache's perfume penetrates the air,
is it plausible to think that this ship won't sink
at times I really believe it should
but I am trapped in this body
wishing for a ticket
to any place you are not,
I am selfish weak child
in a grown woman's body,
truthfully I was never afraid of my own death
I even unwisely went hunting for it,
the wind's turned and I changed
now something different is in the air,
your silent screams mock my own
how I was supposed to know
what you long ago learned,
as you struggled daily
to keep me safe from suicide's grasp
that this would be so cruel,
watching someone you love wish for the end
as they die inside and out.

Reading these words, you're not alone. I used to sit by a telephone, and wait and wonder why......it never rang, no one cared. but as time went by, the began again to ring and sing. Bitter sweet but its all in the adventure we share.
Thanks for sharing. |
