A single tear is shed,
the shattering of diamonds
On the marble face
A mask ready to slip
at the slightest sign of hate.
Looking back
Looking forward,
Looking into nothing
The tear is shed for not knowing
A painted face,
the artist's hand
A steady brush
on uneven ground.
And so a tear is shed
For the life already dead
