Someone else

Contributed by Insomnia_InfiniteSadness on Wednesday, 14th April 2004 @ 10:41:53 AM in AEST
Topic: LostLove

Inspired from a verse by a song by a band called "The Remains", from Sydney Australia, who played a cosy lunchtime gig at our uni. I wrote this about an hour after seeing them, sitting outside waiting for class, watching the world go by.

Not entirely a true story, but a true feeling.

Saw you last night
Looking your best
Hair, face, dress
You were dressed to impress…
…Someone else

Saw you last night
Trying your hardest
Had that look in your eye
That I never see when you’re looking at me

Saw you last night
Heart broken again
With a tear in your eye
In need of a friend

Saw you last night
Sitting by me
Talking for hours
Content under the stars

Saw you last night
As we said goodbye
Once you are gone
I start to cry

Saw you last night
As I fell asleep
With you in my mind
I start to weep

Saw you last night
In joy and sorrow
You’ll be looking your best
When I see you tomorrow

I am going through feelings similar to this write now, and have also written about it, great poem. I, myself, hate the feeling of loving someone, or whatever, and seeing them come to you when they are hurt, then leaving you when you make them feel better. It happens to often.

Wow, I’m a little surprised, I never thought of that interpretation, of being used, that was not my intention, the poem was more just about what I felt, the true story doesn’t run as written, in fact there isn't really a story. I’m not even sure where 'in need of a friend' came from, I think perhaps it’s my need of a friend I was thinking of, even though I wrote it otherwise to fill the story.
Its all OK though, they are but words, and we all see them though out own eyes and experiences and relate to them in out own way.
Thankyou for reading, I never imagined this poem would receive such a response
