Where I learned;

Contributed by rhymeandreason on Wednesday, 14th April 2004 @ 04:49:22 AM in AEST
Topic: Patriotic

My daddy was a sailor.
My momma was a W.A.V.E.
She swamped his boat in Guam.
Where me, each to the other gave.

A little bit of her.
A little bit of him.
Made a lot of me for sure.
Chock-full to the brim.

Raised most everywhere,
within the forty-eight.
I have seen my share
of almost every state.

I enlisted in the Army.
When I turned seventeen.
Well before one year had passed,
I'd earned my silver wings.

A medic in the field,
that came down from the sky.
With a strike hold unit shield,
Where sent most from around there die.

As do some of us who came.
When push and shove would meet.
Usually with our objective claimed,
after the battles heat.

Americas Guard of Honor.
Is the 82nd Airborne's task.
And death before dishoner,
from many of them asked.

When dire straights are end of trail.
When misery's at play.
To keep from thinking they might fail,
they shout out: "ALL THE WAY!"

Whatever that must mean.
Wherever that must be.
Like few hae ever seen.
Like few will ever see.

For truly I am grateful,
for oh so many things.
That list s long, but near the top.
Is, I am glad I earned my wings.

For I was Eighty-Second.
And that i'll always be.
For when hard results are expected.
That's where them Boys will be.

Singing battle cadence loud.
In double time.
And double step.
It's plain to see them boys are proud.
That leap of faith they leapt.

You can hear them singing,
of what they are a bringing.
On spirits silver winging.
Know it's real.
I wish just once, that everyone
could that feeling feel.

HEAR THEM SINGING......
AIRBORNE RUNNING SONG (author unknown)

C-130 rolling down the strip.
Airborne daddy gonna take a little trip.
Stand up, hook up,
shuffle to the door.
Jump right out, now count to four.

SAYING: " ALL THE WAY, AIRBORNE!
AIRBORNE! ALL THE WAY!.

If my chute don't open wide.
I've got another, by my side.
If that one should fail me too.
Look out below!
'Cause i'm coming through!

ALL THE WAY, AIRBORNE!
AIRBORNE! ALL THE WAY!

If I die in a pool of blood.
Bury me with a case of Bud.
A case of Bud,
and a bottle of rum.
And we will all raise some Hell
in Kingdom Come!

When we get to the Pearly Gates,
Saint Peter will say.
" What did you do son,
to earn your way?"
I'll reply. "Hey Pete!
I am no stranger."
For you see,
Saint Peter was an Airborne Ranger!
That's when i'll hear
Saint Peter say.
"God Bless, the U.S.A.!

ALL THE WAY, AIRBORNE!
AIRBORNE! ALL THE WAY!

This is excellent and I admire you and your family so. All service people are proud of their units, as well they should be. I am proud of each and everyone of you. You are my heros. This fills me with such a feeling of pride being a military wife at one time. I know that pride and honor well. Well penned and well deserved honour.
