Missing Innocence

Children playing, children turning,
Children spinning, children whirling.
If only life was as easy as this, the spinning rides and the little twists.
Twists that right them selves before they are wronged
Rides that return before they are longed.
Those smiling features that grace our halls dine with us and are so bold
So bold as to ask; Not what is next or what has been,
But at this moment why it seems.
If only all could play at this where sadness is forgotten and love is not missed.
That are only there for those who do not earn,
Earning men, earning women, children who are half dead but earn for their living.
If only a child’s love could prevail.
As only their ecstasy for laughter can deter the hatred that rides the winds and the sea.
The hatred that rides through the sky and the hatred that haunts us through our living years,
Until with death we depart.
But would this happen if the child’s smile won?
What would happen if laughter lived and hate died?
What would happen if a child’s carefree life prevailed?
