Toss and turn
No energy in my body
Yet something keeps me
From peaceful slumber
The wheels in my mind
Do not stop turning
My thoughts
Never slow, never tire
Never stop to grant me peace
My body is exhausted
Praying for a pause
Just a chance to rest
Yet my mind keeps the manic pace
Refusing me a break
A chance to rejuvenate
I watch the sun rise slowly
As another sleepless night slips away
And a new day begins
