I am black, I am white
I am day, I am night
I am up, I am down
I am sight, I am sound
I am king, I am queen
I am blue, I am green
I am grass, I am trees
I am the gale, I am the breeze
I am heat, I am cold
I am young, I am old
I am poor, I am rich
I am the path, I am the ditch
I am the pauper, I am the lord
I am everything, I am God

Yes, trepidous I was, clicking on this one. This is because I'm wary of the god-squad in religious poetry (not that i'm particularly averse to god per se) - Anyway - I ramble.
I loved the way you wrote this in opposition, in particular, juxtaposing blue with green. That fit perfectly after 'king and queen' (don't ask me why). I also like the fact that you don't seem to be as constricted as I in your rhyme. If I had attempted something similar, I would be forced to rhyme absolutely Everything, in hope that it fit and worked. But you did it anyway and it DID work. So true and so pleasurable to read.
Thanks for writing this one. |
