I Miss You Mom

Topic: MothersDayPoems

The first day of spring nine years ago
A dear and wonderful lady left this earth
A shock to us all, wasn’t ready to let her go
My thirty years of life at that time
Was just awakening, maturing, having wealth from God’s Hearth
I was certain to spend time visiting and shopping with you
A phase where you were to slow down, reading your mystery rhymes
I remember all those things you’ve done for me
Wishing now, I should have told you sooner, what I was to do
To do for you, as you had done for me, Naturally!
But, HIS Lords Grace had other plans, for he knew
Your life was ready to shine in HIS Heaven
You’ve worked hard, struggled to raise your family
I know at times, I made it difficult, perhaps, blurred your ideal vision
Of what you wanted me to do and be
It wasn’t easy I admit; I didn’t like your working ethics!
But glad I had it difficult, I learned well to keep
Those “Ole Fashioned Morals and Values” in my everyday methods!
I know you always loved and cared about me too
Even though it wasn’t spoken, didn’t mean you were weak
How I wish I could be like you MOM
You were such a classy lady, so caring, giving, and strong
You long wavy, auburn hair, still had that alluring calm
Your lessons instilled in me, best, as you knew how
Why us children expect so much from parents?
Like you really have a “parents handbook” for life’s lessons of then and now!
Ah, but as your Daughter grew older, a lot she understood
More of what your life meant to her
She knew how much you gave up in your life, not to deter
A loving fact, so she has a life, as she should
That let her make her own choices to face an uncertain, cruel world
I THANK YOU MOM; I never said it enough
Always in my heart, watching as my angel, I feel the breeze of your wings unfurl
To know you molded me as strong willed, creative mind, and my body tough
The Daughter your raised, has taken your cue…
To stand up, believe and follow my visions, the path of life I choose
Will guide me, knowing what obstacles are due
Wishing I could touch with a loving embrace to you
I LOVE YOU MOM; you’re never forgotten
Love, Your Daughter…

The ache we feel from losing a loved one is so immense it cannot be described. Getting your feelings down on paper is always a good release though. This is a very sweet poem...
