50 Years

Contributed by twinkletoes on Monday, 12th April 2004 @ 10:54:04 PM in AEST
Topic: Grief

A dance to last forever
was all she dreamed about.
A dance with a young lover
and a chance to start again.

She's pined away too many years
now no brand new start.
And to kiss him with all her love
was to be a gift to that young man.

Long it's been since sweetest kiss
had wet those ruby lips.
Long it's been since her softest touch
had carressed his strong young hands.

He stood above her on that boat
and waved his last farewell.
As the streamers in the air un-twirled
he sailed off to foreign lands.

50 years have not stemmed the tears
that ever seem to pool.
Nor does she forget about him
or his glowing, boyish face.

A life long flood of emptiness
was all she that had earned.
And a scribbled piece of paper
written in some hellish place.

A simple love, with heart resolved
she treasures that love forever.
Patiently she waits,
to hear his welcome call.

Yes folks,
50 years have come and gone
her smile now forever there.
And one by one her friends hath slept
she was the last to fall.

Now she dances forever through the clouds
floating on the air,
with the boy who owns her heart for good, she
laughs without a care.
For through time eternal now they will always
together be.
As today we lay her in the ground under the
apple tree.
