one massive blur

Contributed by little_genna on Sunday, 11th April 2004 @ 04:25:58 PM in AEST
Topic: selfstruggles

Feeling used and abused. Life couldn’t be better.
Oh look you’ll say she’s off on another bender.
After all in your eyes I’m some dumb waste of space.
Covered in lace, or is that disgrace?
I can’t quite remember, whichever,
It’s all just one massive blur.
You think I’ve lost all control over my sexual drive,
Your stupidity makes me thrive.
If you listened to the words that came out of my mouth you would know,
I’m still that innocent girl below.
Not the same little girl, sorry its reality I’ve grown up.
So what’s your hang up?
I’m looked after by those I choose to be around.
But you think you’ll find me drowned.
Why do you think I go off on a bender?
Thinking I’m some big boozer, or should that be loser.

How can you think this of your own daughter?
I can’t help it if the guys think I’m a blinder.
I never asked for them to think I’m gorgeous.
Would you prefer I was dateless?
As you always told me ‘be yourself’
So I am being one’s self.
You would be proud if you could see what I do,
They never try to argue.
I get my way with them with no bad words.
Mum they’re a bunch of cowards.
I’m their little titch,
Yes you know I can be a *****.
That should reassure you,
Instead of make you blue.
You taught me to look after myself and not be walked over.
Now I’m a good brawler.
Oh sorry was that not what you wanted?
You think I drifted.
You said we were flirting?
That was bonding.
Like siblings,
Not sexual feelings.
You just saw it as failing.

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
