Slide through the door
Holding self up on the handle
grasp the banister and crawl up the stairs
Hear the voices
'you're home! How was your day?'
Cant open mouth, so don’t reply
Lean on the back of bedroom door
Until it closes
Twist the key in the lock
Sit with head on knees
Tears soaking jeans
Right hand slowly creeping under the bed
The pain finally got too much
Now realising that no one should be treated like this
No one should have to be silent
while day after day they are abused
now realising the only one who can end the pain is you
right hand now grasping its target
withdraws from underneath the bed
holding the knife right hand now lowers to left wrist
and with one harsh action
the knife goes down
intense pain as it goes through the usual thresh hold
try to hold back the screams but they keep coming
hear the metal grinding on bones
more tears pour from eyes
more screams escape from mouth
watch as blood soaks into carpet
had no idea it would hurt so much
had no idea it would take so long
knocking on the door,
handle rattling
'are you ok?'
stupid question
'what's wrong?'
again looking at wrist, pinned to the floor
thumping on door getting heavier now
moving the body,
wrist moving around the blade, stuck firmly in the floor
surprising how this pain is still easier to deal with
than that inside
at least there is reassurance that this will end
soon it will all end
the screaming stops
inside there is silence
still the thumping goes
crying voices now
on the other side of the door

This is tragically beautiful.. I could feel the knife being lowered onto my wrist as you described it.. this provoked very powerful emotions. A poem that can sadly be related to.
