An artist must tell their truth,
which saddens me,
because that's her truth,
which matters to me as much
as mine,
or more.
She's out there.
Reading to crowds,
at festivals,
getting published,
telling half truths.
that in her eyes
I was this charicature
of maleness.

the poem is well done with just a twist of irony: the narrator's truth may be only a half truth to the poet being written about ...nice touch
