This Is The Life

Topic: NaturePoetry

I want to feel free
I want to feel the soft breeze and the warm grass on my skin
I want to dig my feet into the sand
And listen, and watch
Oh, I could spend hours on end just listening and watching
To hear a windchime or laughter in the distance
Or the soothing sound of water chasing water over rocks
Separating from itself just long enough to flow back into a stream
River, ocean, brook
It gathers into one mass, inviting me to jump in
Or even to just dip my toes in
To see the trees standing in their magnificent glory
To hear the birds telling stories
And feel an insect crawling on my arm uninvited
To slip in between the cool sheets on a clear summer night
To feel the sweet kiss of another's lips
Emotion
To let the wind blow through me and replenish my soul
This is the life
Perhaps these are the things we take for granted far too often
How sad it is to wait until something's gone to begin to appreciate it's true beauty.
