The Passing Of Lovers

She lies still in the darkness
Searching her mind
Through the best kept secrets
Hoping to find
The place in her heart she knew once before
When her lover was near
When the smiles were genuine
Never once shed a tear
Woe be to the lover
Who must wait for another
With nothing to do but sit and weep
Over the person they swore they'd forever keep
She clings to the hope of igniting the flame
That burned out so long ago
Another lover like him she'll never know
So she buries herself deep in the covers
And listens to the silent night
Like two ships passing in the ocean
The unfortunate passing of lovers.
