Hymn of the Celtic

Contributed by Shadow on Friday, 9th April 2004 @ 12:38:20 AM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

Celtic songs sing thee to thy rest O men of the northern sky
Who sang strange tunes in words long lost upon the ocean high
O what brave souls in arms of luster should wage war so divine
Upon the shores of lands that hold no face lost in the memory of time
O braves souls soon not forgot in hearts that bleed your grace
In our hearts your memory lives though you have no face
O Celtic men of the battle hearty upon the lands long old
Stories that you have yet done upon a shore untold
Bagpipes play thee to thy rest upon you home of heart
These words I hold to my heart never from my mind to part
Celtic song sing thee to they rest O men of the northern sky
Who sang strange tunes in words long lost upon the ocean high

Omg what a beautiful story, I remember reading a book on Celtic mythology once and they had beautiful, stirring poems in there just like this one. Well done.

A very very haunting write!... I can almost imagine this being read to the gentle plucking of a harp or perhaps th etimbre of a pipe. I love ancient history and Celtic myths has been one of my field of interests..although I am more partial to the Romans at times as I watched them decimate the celtic tribes...sorry I love The Roman Legion, but always have I been fascinated by the tales of the those long haired warriors clad in chainmail and tribal cloak with sword, spear and shield as they wreaked carnage on Roman forts. While the legion has tactics and formations these warriors has pride, spirit and wild determination.

You work somewhat does your ancestors proud I think as they recount in our hearts the tales of Celtic heroes unsung... a very nostalgic and haunting hymn!

That was beautiful...I am in awe....I absolutely LOVE Celtic lore...And they truely were the unsung heroes...But this is amazing...You've portrayed them all too well...I'm sure even they Celts' "Rods of the Fili" (poets) could have put that better...
~Kie-Kie~ XOXOXO
