Do you remember your father?

Contributed by Shadow on Thursday, 8th April 2004 @ 11:25:47 PM in AEST
Topic: oops

Do you remember your father
Did he tuck you in at night
Did he hug you every day
Before he turned out the light

My father did all of this
Until they started the war
Then my daddy went away
I never knew what for

I thought I was to blame
Was it something that I lack
Then one day with tears in her eyes
Mom said dad wasn’t coming back

She said he died In Vietnam
And some one took his life
She held out something in her hand
My daddy’s friend sent back the knife

Do you remember your father
I wish to god I did
I lost him so far away
In a war who’s purpose was hid

Oh gosh this was so sad and heartwrenchingly so.
My whole heart goes out to you and the loss of your father.
This poem got me in its grip and brought tears to my eyes.
High praise for this one... Kie

Sad poem....I liked it a lot. Shows how much b.s. war really is. This poem made me sad and mad at the same time. Thanks for posting this up and I look foward to reading more of your poems!

This is a v.v. sad poem, almost reduced me to tears and very desponding. In a way it also made me angry over the pointlessness of war.

Very deep and well-written, sad but beautiful.
