Underneathe his cold, bitter facade
Is a lonely creature yearning for love
The laws of gravity pull down against his bones
Molding creases into his forelorn face
His hands a faded yellow
Reaching out to hold onto life
His calloused flattened feet
Reek the stench of sixty years worked
His shoulders once strong and broad
Now slump from wavered time
His tear ducts clogged and thirsty
Used to cry a river of tears
His clothes befitting his waistline
Once pressed firmly against solid hips
Those ashen eyes were once a silken blue
That looked upon his life with awe
The graying hair covers a dying brain
Overflowing with the knowledge he's earned
His skeleton is a cracking mess
But deep inside, his heart still beats...

Actually Curtis...it's about several people...I met so many older men that have turned cold in their older years...However I also knew them when they were younger and so much more full of life. Always seemed they were all of a sudden missing something in their lives... |

Good Write. A vivid reminder that age is the hunter of us all and we it's prey. Nice description. |
