She came home from work an hour late.
And out from the shadows, came a punch
from the one she will grow to hate. It knocked
her straight across the room. The children
came running, one with a bat, the other
with a broom.
You're a whore we heard from across
the room. Holding her hand upon her face,
she swore to put him in his place.
He just turned and walked out the door,
not knowing that when he came back home,
she would not be there anymore.
She now lives with another man,
who took her and her children in.
A man with a heart made of gold,
someone who will be there while she
grows old.
Even though the children were never his,
he had raised them, and accepted them as
his own. He showed one how to draw, and
write, as he showed us all to love, and
not to fight.
I thank that man, for the man he made
out of me. We had our hard times, and bad as
well, but he was always there in a time
of need. For that i thank you father,
for being all that you could be.

So many men do this for the woman they love and so few every get the acknowledgement they deserve. Biology doesn't make a man a father. His heart and soul does.
