Pain and Unanswered Questions

Contributed by passioneminem06 on Wednesday, 7th April 2004 @ 11:54:05 AM in AEST
Topic: toughstuff

Popping prescription pills in the kitchen
Sleeps in the hospital a lot
Talks intelligently
People think “Frankenstein”
Talk weird man but kind at heart
6’8”, brown hair, brown eyes
A dictionary missing a few pages
Is how he thinks sometimes
But unique in his own way
Trying to be around
But stepping stone too big for him to overcome
All he can do now is put caps on bottles
Used to be the best around
For sound systems for bands on the road
Once met Kiss and helped them out
As he talks he stutters
People ask “What happened to him”
Sometimes I feel embarrassed
But I really am not
Seizures that could take his life
Sometimes too terrible
One after another
He tries so hard to live on everyday
He tries to be normal
Doctors working and studying him like an experiment
Never know if today is his last day
Memories that are supposed to live forever are gone
My only answer comes in one word to anyone who asks
“What ever happened to that man?”
I simply say
“Epilepsy”

As an epileptic living with seizures( I had one this morning) I know the pain after each seizure.I have a feeling this poem is about you,if not someone you know, but if it is,you must come to terms with this illness,we are normal people living like the rest of everyone, only that a brain storm comes once in a while, but the sun always rises....
If you ever feel like reading more poetry on epilepsy, take a look at mine: Brain Storm and Oh Daddy Please....I really enjoyed this poem,
PumpkinPie
