Dorien's Picture

Contributed by doriens_picture on Wednesday, 7th April 2004 @ 02:20:28 AM in AEST
Topic: oops

Sometimes I feel like I am Dorien’s picture
The aging image of something that was once
Beautiful
Then I think about all the ones I lost
To the weakness of my vanity
Aging everyday in an ageless frame
Maybe I am where I belong after all
This maybe my atonement
But I still don’t seek absolution
Forgiveness was not given to me
I was forced to stop asking
Others still find me beautiful
A fallen angel to the eyes of many
I cut my wings and I cannot see
Through there eyes anymore
I think I just have done too much
I hurt her and that is more than enough
So I will stay here in this frame
While my vanity is free

Yes, we do know.
It is very hard when people merely perceive you based on your physical appearances.
It's a great write.

Agreed, the picture of dorian gray is a great story and you have crafted an excellent poem on the consequences of selfishness and vanity.

I love the writers classics.. I am not sure if I would want to sell my soul for eternal youth.. ..

But I do understand the portrait aged..

As for me, I am aging, and I look much younger than many of my portraits taken over the years..

That, and my heart, my soul will remain forever young..

Nice write of yours.. I am sure Oscar Wilde would appreciate it..

Do you have family connections with Wilde? Just asking...

Raquel Leah ; ))

I love your writing. I had just read the Picture of Dorian Gray and fell that your comparisons are accurate with the story. Take care,
Deidra
