A Sestina of Love

A Sestina of Love

The basic emotion of love
Addresses every hearts need
Every heart does not only want
But also needs to give
True blessings of hope
That satisfies a souls desire

You ask what desire?
The desire to be worthy of love
No heart has a greater hope
Or a greater need
For if we love, what more can we give?
And if freely given what more can we want?

So then love is the fulfillment of want
And the true satisfaction of desire
A heart that will freely give
Will also abundantly gather love
For it is no more inspired by need
But by hope

I say inspired by hope
For when hope is present, small is want
Inherent in hope is faith for need
Diminished is the hunger of desire
For it is put in proper order by love
That is, to not take but give

What greater blessing could one give
Than self for another's hope
Denying pride and greed for love
Placing another's well being above want
Understanding the hearts true desire
Yielding to its need

So if it's love you need
First learn how to give
Pursue it with passion and desire
Let it fill you with hope
For it is everything a heart could want
This blessed emotion called love

Now it is my sincere hope
You live a life of joy without want
Full of happiness and overflowing with love

I think this is the wisest, most prefectly thought out write I have ever read. You have taught me something with this one my friend, a life lesson. Who ever is fortunate enough to click on this poem will be blessed by your words.

Truly an ageless write
