Bends and Creases

Contributed by MoonlitAngel on Tuesday, 6th April 2004 @ 09:44:51 PM in AEST
Topic: Nostalgic

I remember you
How you always had to look just right
And all the times you put up a fight
I loved you so much
Tragically perfect in every way
We all followed you like orphaned strays
I needed you most
Gave up whatever you asked of me
Always what you wanted me to be
But I hated you
How you made me your faithful lapdog
I thought it was real, seeing through fog

What were you always crying for?
Why'd you have to be so adored?
Heart on your sleeve, mask on your face
Then disappeared without a trace

It was nothing new
The same old thing you always gave us
The same old ways you always played us
Just another dreamer
Couldn't stand to be less than the best
Stood so much higher than all the rest
With so much to prove
You could never lay back and relax
Always aware of just how you act
But I caught a glimpse
Of a soul that struggled just to shine
Beneath the sadness in your mind

Why did you change when they walked in?
Became something you'd never been
You complicate me 'cause you're fake
I built you up and watched you break

I remember you
Always making something out of nothing
I was there for you through everything
I resented you
Never comfortable in your own skin
Wishing to be someone else again
I couldn't stand you
Watched you lose yourself more every day
Till from reality you turned away
I cannot love you
Broke too many times, you're missing pieces
But I still feel you in all my bends and creases

Whoa, this brought back some memories of high school....great poem, very raw and vividly portrays the uselessness of posers.

wow awesome poem.. I also had a friend who was fake.. Im glad you realized it before they did something hurtful to you.. you don't need friends like that ... friends should always be supportive and caring never liars or fake

peace and hope
