A Bottle Of Silence

A bottle of silence,
An upside down glass.
I sit in the quiet ,
And remember the past.
My life was upended,
Just short of the goal.
So little is left,
So little to hold.
I dine on anger,
And pain from the past.
A most tasteless meal,
The heartburn will last.
Life is just life,
To the "Me" of today.
The mind will survive,
But the heart has to pay.
All that was cherished,
Has all been cast out.
All that remains,
Is an ocean of doubt.
A bottle of silence,
A still empty glass.
I dry my eyes,
And remember the past.

Stunning use of words.... especially in this stanza--
I dine on anger,
And pain from the past.
A most tasteless meal,
The heartburn will last.
That's an absolutely amazing stanza. Very well done.
My best wishes for you and your family, mo..... I hope you can all find comfort and peace.
God bless,
Ellen |
