Psychomanthium

Contributed by Vitreous_Soul on Tuesday, 6th April 2004 @ 08:30:41 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

The sun has long since vanished
And with it went the light of day
Now it's just me all alone
Sitting in an upright coffin

I'm overwhelmed with anxiety
And encaged in this box
Completely surrounded by darkness
With only reflections to keep me company

Stare into the mirrors, slip into oblivion
As my face becomes another
Who is looking for who

Colors dance in front of my eyes
I no longer feel alone
But instead as a vessel

Speak to me, I invoke thee
Communicate through me
My shell and your soul are one

Eyes from every direction
Piercing right through me
As my face becomes another's
As the black looking glass benumbs me

Specks of light converge upon my eyes
Shifting into faces long perished
I feel ready to rise into
Another metamorphosis

I about punched through my screen when some dumb flashing stars from an ad kept following the corners of my vision. What better way to distract a mind from beauty. I was so wrapped up reading it that I snarled vocally when I had to refresh to get rid of those stars. And that sounds psychotic for a comment, but you understand how that interruption feels. For an old poem, this is a lot better intellectually than what most people's new poems are (I'm pointing that at myself, no one else. Don't sue me, I'm broke).

Keep writing or may colourful, dancing stars follow you,
-Eve.

Very interesting...

Somewhat strange, very different, but in a very good manner...

This has given me a different view, as well as set me on another world...

I enjoyed this immensely...

Favorite line:

Speak to me, I invoke thee
Communicate through me
My shell and your soul are one

This is very interesting. I could be wrong, but I see it as moving from one period of life to another, but also there's the feeling of being controlled by another or giving yourself over to that. Very interesting write.
