LET'S PRETEND

'LET'S PRETEND"

This is a story book.......
Let's open it and take a look?

"Hello, my little darlings,
Boys, and girls and younglings
My name is "Candy"
"Candy" the camel dandy!

We all know camels can't speak.
So let's just "pretend" this week
"Pretend" means it's not real.
Like your dreams, not actual.

You "pretend" in your mind
You imagine pictures so fine.
Like "Candy" the camel here.
We know she can't talk, poor dear.

What's this fellow's name?
"Jack the Jackass" he's tame.
Do Jackasses wear glasses?
No, and they don't wear britches

But if you want to "Pretend"
He could even be your bookend.
Do you think Jack can laugh?
Yes, it's a real horselaugh!

What do you think this is?
"Anne" the angel princess
Angels are real, you can't see them
Even though you can't see them,
they are not pretend!

So, my dear little children
"Pretend" was a new word,
wasn't that fun?
Can you tell me, what
"Pretend" means to you?
Do you need a clue?

"Pretend" is not real
Like your dreams, not actual
Just like the Camel, "Candy"
Sweet Camel, but she can't speak
do we all agree?

See you next time.....
I love you
Connie Sue

This is precious and your pictures are adorable. I am sending it to my grandchildren as they will love it. Bernard gave me permission to send his children's stories to them too. They are getting quite a collection. Thank you, my sweet friend.

Oh I loved this poem!! Made me laugh, still smiling now. You really should take the suggestion of all those who commented and try to write a children's book! Awesome!

Let's us all pretend indeed! I want to be the world's king and no jackass is my name but the terrible liege to all haughty, royal and most extreme.. let us now pretend that I am the world's king!..LOL ha ha ha ha just expressing pretensions letting my inner child sing. Anyway enjoyed this pleasant jaunt into a tender gentle times..a child again perhaps as I was once.

But nor onwards to adult things.. mired in concerns. A great man once said in paraphrase "as a child I walked like a child, talked like a child and played like a child. But as an adult I put away childish things..." but then a great minstrel also once sang again paraphrased herein.." talk like a man..walk like a man..".. one more adieu my friends for my time herein grows nigh to its end... a fond farewell....my cup have runneth over..let us pretend...

This is very different for you. Are you thinking of writing more for children? Maybe you already do, and I'm just not familiar. Very interesting. Delightful in its simplicity.
