The perfection of a by-gone second

Contributed by jade_elephant on Monday, 5th April 2004 @ 05:05:00 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

Give me just one minute,
Before you have to go.
Please God, let this moment last,
Stop time, make it go t-w-i-c-e, a-s, s-l-o-w.

Grasping with desperate fingertips
At the very corner of your soul.
I’m bathing in what we have left,
Cause I know it won’t last long.

Why does it all have to end?
Why no stop button, no pause, no rewind?
Why the everlasting playing?
Too much time in which things can change.

I’m content in just this second,
I don’t want it to go away.
Fed up of going in circles
Of being left and dragged up again.

Content in just this second…

Which has gone just as it arrived,
Never to return the same,
Just a variation, on the utmost perfection,
Of our first meeting, first glance, before all this deception.

It will never be that good again.
