Good-night Prayer

Now I lay me down to bed,
Cover up my tired head,
And if tomorrow the sun shan't rise
To awaken both my bloodshot eyes,
Then I pray the alarm won't ring,
And on the phone my boss won't scream
And that the laundry will just do itself,
So that I can finally get some rest.
But if tomorrow the sun shall rise,
Then I pray I don't have bloodshot eyes,
And that the worry will just fade away--
Mostly that tomorrow isn't like today.
