If I had a sign to wear
to tell you I'm not okay,
I'd wear it.
If I had the words to say
to tell you I'm not okay,
I'd say them.
If I had the colour-coded wardrobe
preparing you for me,
I'd wear it.
But I don't have a sign.
And I can't find the words.
And my clothes, though collared,
speak no words.
So I'm sorry
but I guess I can't express this
in terms you comprehend.
And as I barely miss,
I'll swear I never saw your hand.
And as I long for you to understand
how I'm not the selfish brat you see,
I just get so weary
of this thing we call me.
And if I had the expression
to tell you I'm not okay,
I'd express it.
If I had the right actions
to tell you I'm not okay,
I'd act them.
And if I had the sign,
the words,
or the coded-coded wardrobe,
to tell you I'm not okay,
I'd wear it, say them, and use it,
to tell you
I'm not okay.
I'm not okay.

I can relate to this a lot, I really can. Good poem Kara good to see you've joined the site although you didn't tell me till today I'll be on the lookout for yer poems from now on.

That's beautiful, seriously...wow, I can't even begin to say anything. I tried for years to do just what you were trying to do...it proved too difficult for me, as I just could not break my mom's heart. I can't recall the last time a poem hit me so personally--
Excuse me while I attempt to dry the tears and try to read the next poem. After I read this about six more times...
