Look
In the mirror
What do I see
A man
A boy
Trying to be
Pretending he is
A man.
I see a
Drunk
Holding his baby
His Jack
Taking swig
After swig
Reeking of his manly desire
His passion
His addiction
His demise
His killer
Killing him
Slowly
By the day
By the moment.
I see puff puff
Another cigarette
Smoke filled air
Coughing
Choking
Inhaling
Aging by addiction
Wishful eyes
Saying
I won't die
Or will I?
I see
Nothing
I am nothing
Just a bum
Never made me
Into anything
Never amounted
To much
But
A poor slob.
I see
Empty
Dead dreams
From when
I was young
I was going to be
Something
And get out of here
But then
I had alittle Jack
And alittle more
And a cigarette
And threw my life away
For the foolish addictions.

Wow, this poem is very good, to openly display for the world to see is in itself therapy.
Great job, and your not a poor slob.
Thanks for sharing something that must be very hard to share. |
