The Maiden

Walking through the dense forest
The trickle of tranquil waters
Heard all around
It is here the Maiden dwells
Her heart is torn
The sad song she sings
Fills the woods
The most beautiful song
Ever to be heard
To your ears
You only hear the song
Never do you hear
The pain behind the words
The lonely maiden
So beautiful
So hurt
The one she loved
Her knight
In shining armour
Vanished
On such lonely nights
She sat alone
Just waiting for his return
But never did he come
Lost to the cold sword
The battle took him
This young man
At 24
Never did the Maiden know
His love for her
Was no more
Her lover
Gone
Throwing herself upon the sword
The river turning
To blood red
So now the body
Of her lies
Upon the muddy shore
Her woeful tune echos
Forevermore

O maiden of white now turned red
now only singing for the dead
I liked the meaning and the format even. You did excellent on this. This poem lacks nothing. I give you a standing ovation. Maybe oneday you will do the same for one of my poems. |
