An amethyst sunset corked the sky
Oil lamps are being put out
The people of Foxglove now lay to rest
Sweet children dream in lands of fantasy
Not wanting to awake from their place
I wish I could see the starts of night
and lay awake admiring them,
with eyes of blue amazement.
Dense, gray fog creeped around the town,
like a giant sheet
Next year at this time, I will be awake
Grayce is my name, a peasant of Foxglove.

Complete honesty? I liked it. I friend of mine also writes, and the one piece of advice that he offered me that I remember most is 'Adjectives are your friend' There were enough adjectives in your poem for me to be able to actually picture it, and that's something that means a lot to me. Good literature is my escape from the world. |
