Life’s path is hard
This I know
Not long I have walked it
Yet much have faced
And sorrow felt
Like a moonless night.
Yet ever light
Has called me on
Its glory bright
And warmth needed
When I was cold
And day was gone.
Light is the glint
Of profound joy
It is the form
Of lasting love
It is an echo
Of vibrant life.
Yet little enough
Is in this walk
The sunlight will flee
The stars falter
Ashamed of the night
That they are in.
So too does my heart
Grieved by the darkness
Bound about it
Wishing to go
Where the sun goes
When it is sorrowful.
How my heart yearns
For that lasting joy
I weep within
When I think of it
But the lights around me
Only weep as well.
The day must come
I will find the source
Of all light
The great Flame burning
Above all night
And there will I stay.

When all lights are out and the world has faded into dim grey
I know where to look
In the great Flame
All bright have gathered
It's upon us to find the way to it...
Thanks for your words.

When I got to the end, I just wanted to say
"Amen." I really liked these next two lines:
It is an echo
Of vibrant life.

I am finding this to be true more and more each day. Love is learned through the lessons of hurt and sorrow, wisdom from the expiriencing of life through either your own mistakes or the mistakes of others and light is found by searching and by walking in it. The night comes for everyone but so does the dawn. Which brings me to this poem; It is very admirable to want to find the light most run in the opposite direction. You continue to surprise and inspire me by your writing. This is an awesome poem full of purpose and merit. |

It is funny what 3 months can change, I am leaving my second comment to this poem as an acclamation that you have written something that has a lot of depth.
"Books change each time you read them"
From "The never ending story part 2" |
