Depression in its Splendour

Contributed by afraid_of_fear on Thursday, 1st April 2004 @ 04:49:28 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Addictions, conflictions and all this regret
Memories of realities I wish I could forget

Paracetamol, Prozac and all those numbing things
Razorblades, raindrop tears, and all the painful stings

Purple scars, empty thoughts and endless dreary paths
Despairing screams, frustrated cries (and cold, weary laughs)

Psychiatrists, psychologists and psychotherapists
Self-harm records and self-help lists

Isolation, complications, unfamiliar noises
Fear, panic attacks and undecided choices

Recollections of bandages and bloodied steri-strips
Cynicism, criticism, and complicated friendships

I’m tiring of these obsessions and false confessions
I just want out of this suffocating depression

Ooooh, wow, I liked this one a lot . . . also, maybe it was just me, but the rhyme scheme you used kinda seemed like the same sound as that "girls are made of sugar and spice and everything nice", etc. . . . which made it seem all ironic. I like it :).
