School of life.

Contributed by lynda rachel comiske on Sunday, 22nd September 2002 @ 11:00:00 AM in AEST
Topic: Lifepoems

Today i stopped and asked myself
what have i learned so far.
enrolled upon this school of life
revolving round a star.
i tried to learn to love myself
but found that such a task.
theres days i feel that i'm unsure
who hides behind this mask.
In a world thats often hard
to find a friend thats true,
learning how to be yourself
is often hard to do.
at times i'm lost,i'm out of place
and this is not my home
just like a goldfish trapped inside
this suffocating dome.
what does the future hold for us
if life is just a class.
will our lives be scrutinised
beneath a looking glass.
they say that through the suffering
there will in turn be gain.
a facet of this sunshine just
proceeds to follow rain.
but then when i look closely
i see beauty all around
the birds that sing within the trees
that sprout up from the ground.
the mystery in the vision of a star
that is no more.
the lashing of the ocean wave
the soothing of the shore.
i'm hoping when my time is up here
i can truly say
i helped a soul upon this plane
to live a brighter day
yes when the hour glass runs dry
and i must learn my fate
i hope that i can smile and know
at least i'll graduate.
