If I promise not to say anything Unkind.
And If I promise that I will live the rest of my Life Honest and Good
Will God return my voice to me?
As I fell like a Motherless Child,
The tears stained my Friends Blouse.
But without a pause,
No hint at all
She let me fall weeping into her arms.
"My world was coming apart," I sobbed.
My faith felt bruised and shattered.
I walked this day as if in a Dream
My Fear , My Doubts
King Kong
This sound I make is mine Alone.
And I thought I used it Wisely.
But when it Faded and Never Came Back
I took myself in hand
Thinking about Words, I'd said in Love or Anger
Are sounds I took for Granted.
But I can no longer Say the Words you long to hear.
My throat has Shut .
No words come out .
I'm thrown into a World of Silence
Its No Fun to Hear and Not join in .
When my contributions to the conversation
would Heighten , Brighten and Cheer.
I promise not to say a Unkind word against My Fellow Man
If I promise, To be a Kinder, More Gentle , More Patient?
More Willing to understand.
I 'II Look Further into the Wonders and try to forget the Rest
The ugly, deprived, unwholesome and the All the Acts.
But what if after All is Said and Done
And still - if It is unoperateable -
Will I be Willing enuff to Let Go
And accept my Final Fate.
