Innocence Stripped Away

Contributed by Solmyr1404 on Wednesday, 31st March 2004 @ 04:05:25 PM in AEST
Topic: MiscPoems

She was 18,
Kind and caring,
Beautiful in every way.
She loved the Lord
With all her heart,
But then she began to stray.
She started hanging out
With all the wrong guys,
Her image became one of
Innocence stripped away.
She changed her clothes,
Dyed her hair,
And completely changed her attitude
And look.
She threw her future away.
What happened that day
Was bound to go down,
The way she flaunted her body.
Out on a dark street
With the wrong guy one night,
She never saw another day.
They found her body ravaged,
She'd been raped and shot,
Her innocence
Stripped away.

The lamb was young,
Newborn and flawless,
And snow white wool.
The lamb was a beautiful one,
One fit for the greatest sacrifice,
How could it not be?
It was God's.
The wolves tore into His back,
The crimson stains of blood growing bigger
Upon His back.
They forcecd Him into
A brush of thorns
That stuck in His head, drawing still more blood
From His wounded body.
They backed Him against a tree.
With teary eyes He looked up at His Father and said
"Why have you forsaken me?"
And with that one last statement,
The whole earth shook
When Jesus died
With the weight of our sins
On His back.
"Father, why have you forsaken me?"
He turned His back so He couldn't see
The Lamb's innocence stripped away.
