My Spirit Cannot Rest

LoveRemembered
|
From the depth of my soul, a restlessness appears,
much like it did, back many , many years.
A time of taking leave, of a love I only knew
would someday re-surface, in the face I know....as you.
The time is not important, the age has long been gone,
the distant promises are now written in the words of a lover's song.
I came from clouds of thunder, and lightening in my hair...
the sun was my smile, because you weren't there.
I moved from star to star, never settling in one place
because I only wanted to once more, look upon your handsome face,
and hold your hand, kiss your lips....hoping you would see
the spirit that once left you, like an ocean wave somehow now was free.
But, the wind has once again shifted, threatening to take me away once more.
With the shifting sand my darling, it is hard to remain anchored on the shore.
It's breath is on my cheek, whispering and pulling me to and fro,
when it's strength is more than I can bear, I will need to go.
When this happens and you are left once again on your own,
will I have made a difference in your life, with the love that I have shown?
Remember the sounds in summer of the rustling leaves,
it will the echo of my voice, whispering to you...in the gentle breeze.

A little verbose in parts, but that doesn't detract from what is essentially, a very fine poem.
Well done. |
