Past Lives and Open Wounds

Contributed by strange_lindsey on Wednesday, 31st March 2004 @ 07:51:11 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

Signal fading borderline useless
Victory in the answers to the truth that’s left
Savage corrections and blatant promises
Degrading and unforgiving youthless flesh.

Late departure from level ground
Hinting at the juggled freedoms
Kindness nurturing a broken heart
Give and take and lose it all.

Demand a recount and start from scratch
Catch a levelheaded grin
Vouch for nothing and receive hard-earned stares
Begin anew and watch your back.

Forget the pain and hold on forever
Nothing takes too much time
Understand his words hold honesty
Deepened regret for past relationships that went wrong.

He lives to love you and holds you high
But you’re plagued by low self-esteem
Tempers flaring, violent assaults
Cry into your pillows at night.

I enjoyed reading that...that's a sad story. Self-esteem can really be a plague to us all one time or another eh? Hope it all turns out well for you.

This reminds me of all the relationships I've seen start and then crumble. It was beautifully written.

I really, really, really, really, really, really (okay, I'll stop) liked this poem. Especially the part-- nah, never mind. I was about to mention a certain verse of this that I liked especially, but I just couldn't narrow it down to one . . .

By the way, apropos of nothing, you have a knack for titles to draw the reader in. Me like.
