LIFE IS SIMPLE

Contributed by Rous on Tuesday, 30th March 2004 @ 10:33:05 AM in AEST
Topic: AngryPoetry

Why is it that life is never simple?
All I want is to get along.
I feel that the people I love most in the world are the ones who don’t see.
I hear “I love you” all the time, but after a while, it doesn’t feel genuine.
Does anyone care that I cook for them, do the laundry, wash dishes, clean up after them?
I know this is the woman’s role,
but have you ever stopped to consider
that I’m tired?
Everyone says they love me,
but I feel like a second class citizen.
Is this all there is for a woman?
Don’t get me wrong, I love my husband,
kids and even my life,
but why do people
change jobs every few years?
It’s because they feel trapped.
You know,
a little fresh air sometimes would be nice.
Just a visit from my daughter to give a hand in exchange for all the free babysitting.
Just a call from the daughter who left home to be “free” to let me know she’s alive.
Just a hand from the son who can’t survive without the tv.
Just a pleasant word from the son who doesn’t have one.
Just acknowledgement from the husband who only seems to see what’s not done.
Why should I feel like everyone wishes I’d left my kids home when I go to a restaurant?
Why do I have to hear “Mom, can I have...” whenever I go shopping?
Why do I always feel that if my husband touches me, he only has one thing on his mind?
Is it okay to feel like you’re a convenience?

well tired I am but for different reasons than yours sorry to hear this though. The poem is really very well written, transfers the anger you have.
