Free-Wheeling

Contributed by faithmairee on Tuesday, 30th March 2004 @ 07:34:03 AM in AEST
Topic: FriendshipPoetry

cindy was a real cool chick
she called herself a waitress
serving drinks on the day shift
at a topless bar on the trail
she was given to do things on a whim and when she made up her mind to do something
she was virtually unstopable
since i was staying with her at her father's house on kaley avenue i was almost always invited to accompany her

we often went to the k-mart nearby
so that she could play the elvis pressley records on the jukebox and then instead of shopping she would (claiming she was shopping) dance
up and down the aisles singing along with the King
i never knew quite what to do when she would
grab one of my hands and try to persuade
me to follow suit

we had a brief friendship but
it was one of the best one's i have ever had because i felt so safe being with her
and our times together were filled with
laughter and fun of one kind or another

cindy was extremely kind and more accepting
than most people i have met and sometimes
i suspect that perhaps she needed
a friend as much as i did at the time
since then i have often wondered
where she is today and what
her life turned out to be like

That's a touching story...sad to know that friendships can dissolve as quickly as they form.

I understand how you feel. My best friend is going away to further his education. I hope you find a friend as faithful as she was. Good poem.
