The Promised Call

Contributed by Schnikes13 on Monday, 29th March 2004 @ 06:27:45 PM in AEST
Topic: EmotionalPoetry

How can we expect to carry on,
When all we have is gone?
You can’t let memories hold you back,
Now’s a time to move on in life.

Do you ever want to cry?
Because I sure do.
I’d raise my head up to the sky and pray,
Impossibility can be made through.

I remember waiting by the phone,
Pending your promised call.
Only in the end to find;
Nothing at all.

If life was taken from me tomorrow,
Would the thought of me survive?
Would I be burned into your every memory,
Of the times when we were alive?

As I look into the future,
I can already see your lonely face.
Is that how you want to live;
You without me, without a trace?

All you have to say is,
“I’m sorry for not being around.
Forgive me for not being in your life.”

I remember waiting by the phone,
Pending your promised call.
Only in the end to find;
Nothing at all.

I pray you get the chance
To make it up to me.
We’ve got so much to catch up on.

I’ll still be waiting for you to call,
Though I know I’ll find nothing at all.

Say you’ll make it up to me…

I like this poem a lot! It's not all rhyme but there is some to keep it moving on...
I don't know about others, but I think your poem is very strong, and if this is to someone, I hope that person gets the point.
Lovely writing...
