As I Walk Away

Walking away, saying goodbye,
wiping a tear from my sadened eye.
Words I've left unsaid...my thoughts jumbled at best,
my heart and my body, in need of a rest.
The vision has faded, the dream is now gone,
only the spoken words, remain in a song.
Melody is haunting, as it drifts on by,
all that is left, is a deep aching sigh.
Reality....why does it need to hurt so?
Love........the emotion, so hard to let go.
Fantasy....a place where one can always dream,
Spirit.......it'll be once again hidden, perhaps forever unseen.
Memories...etched deep within my soul,
Heart...........that place with an unfilled hole.
Time............what is needed, if I'm ever to regain,
who I once was, although....forever changed.

although love (even lost love) always changes us, it dosnt always have to be for worse. it sculpts who we are and allows us to put that much more toward making the next relationship work. walking away is tough--reality hurts, and sometimes it can only be expressed through poetry. great write! keep it up!
