The Immortal Hog

Contributed by slayer_015 on Sunday, 28th March 2004 @ 03:00:31 PM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

Life is a vampire,
Forever feeding its gluttonous hunger,
On the ripe vein of human innocence.

Biting and tearing,
It wallows like an immortal hog,
In the slop of our wasted youth.

Its teeth,
Honed razor sharp on perversion and death,
Feign a demon-like smile,
As you feel the last of your scarred emotions,
Slip quietly into the nothingness of nonexistance.

Now,
You have become what life desired,
You stand alone,
Peering into the vast eternal night,
Knowing that life has truly created,
Another soulless freak.

You wake,
From that nightmarish hell,
To the sobering realization,
That it was not a dream but a mere interlude,
Between darknesses,where everything,
Is bent and distorted.

Your only companions,
Are harsh reality, cooling pain, and the finality,
Of endless death.

Each of these companions press,
Your already breaking conscience,
To the edge of implosion.

Then and only then will you know,
The formless grip of solitude.

Blinded by the estranged sun,
You step into the toothy mouth
Of the waiting world noticing,
With every weighted step reminding you,
That what was so important yesterday,
Is minute and shrouded today.

You then see the world for what it is,
Just another gluttonous monster,
With the same demonic smile,
And black hungry eyes.

The toothy mouth closes around you,
Leaving you to face the hopeless screams,
In the acrid darkness alone.

You are trapped,
You no longer exist within yourself,
You are assimilated by the world,
Your freedom is dissolved.

You conform....

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
