no one wants to listen

Contributed by Cancer on Sunday, 28th March 2004 @ 03:26:23 AM in AEST
Topic: DarkPoetry

he wanted to give a reason
he wanted to say goodbye
he wanted to say his final words
but no one wanted to listen

oh, everyone wanted to be a hero
and everyone wanted to save their own ***
once the gun came out

but no one wanted to listen

too stupid to even realize
that he could have picked them off
one by one
if he'd wanted to
but the bullet he'd loaded that morning
was meant for only him
after he'd said his final words

words that no one ever heard
because no one wanted to listen

so in his mouth
went the end of the gun
and on the wall
went the back of his head
and he died choking on the bitter taste
of final words unsaid

because no one wanted to listen

his whole world ended
it all came to a halt
with that one loveless blast
and he died with no peace
he died with no closure

he died alone
because no one wanted to listen

so the next time a friend
has something on their mind
before you open your mouth
and speak from your behind
take a single moment
out of your pointless day
to shut the ***** up
and listen

because people are dying
cold and alone
with burdens on their heart
that they need express
but there's no one there
to share them with
because no one wants to listen

I try to listen...but sadly, every last word of this is true. I can't recall being this worked up over a poem in quite a while. Excellent, i'm glad you decided to share this one.

Truly,
-V.S.

Perfect, conveys with such authority and anger what we all need to be aware of.

Really strong emotion in this one, brought it home very well, excellent.

Wow indeed!!! Loved the flow of this, a sad tale which I'm sure goes on more than we know, I'm always listening.
Great work, hope you don't disappear from here.
