If Only I Could

Contributed by LJ on Friday, 20th September 2002 @ 06:20:21 AM in AEST
Topic: SadPoetry

If only I could put words to my emotions
If only I could put feelings to my words
If only I could catch all my silly notions
Then and only then my heart would be heard

If only my heart would stop pretending
If only my heart would just acknowledge the pain
If only my heart would stop defending
Then and only then my heart would learn to dance in the rain

If only my heart would start to mend
If only my heart would just give it a try
If only my heart would find a truly safe friend
Then and only then my heart would learn to fly

If only I could leave this all behind
If only I could make myself forget
If only I could hit the rewind
Then and only then my heart would have no regret

If only I could find my voice
If only I could find my place
If only I could make the choice
Then and only then my heart I could face

Poetry is much like a great photo, a single "moment in time" capturing many feelings and emotions. Yet, they are very alive; creating stirrings within the readers who form visual "pictures" of the expressed emotions within the Poem. ©
